Amazon To Hire Developers for its Digital Currency Project

A post on the Amazon Jobs website has said that Amazon is looking to hire software engineers and developers. These vacancies are for its Digital and Emerging Payments (DEP) division.

The vacant posts are assigned to those who will work in a new digital currency project and payment product to be launched in Mexico.

The Digital Currency Project in Details

The earliest information on the Amazon job website was first posted in 2020 but updated recently. Amazon is looking forward to hiring developers as it is looking to experiment and deviate a little from fiat to other alternatives.

The digital currency project is set to be launched in Mexico. 

The online retail firm specified that; 

We are looking for a leader to help us launch a new payment product starting with Mexico as our initial launch country.”

Another job posting specified that;

“This product will enable customers to convert their cash in to digital currency using which [sic] customers can enjoy online services including shopping for goods and/or services like Prime Video.

A New Future for Amazon

The online retail platform has its peculiar currency, which is “The Amazon Coins“. It can be used like the “Disney Coins.”

The coins however is more or less like a game token.

As the management of the online retail platform is about to change, now is the time to set in new plans.

The CEO of the company, Jeff Bezos is making plans to step down and reports says the incoming CEO will be the company’s Web Services CEO Andy Jassy, who launched the Amazon Managed Blockchain service during his tenure.

The launch of the digital currency project will form a big relief for crypto enthusiasts as the compay does not yet allow purchasers to use PayPal or Bitcoin.

The digital currency project which signifies the company’s move into cryptocurrency may mean more financial gains for the firm.
