Cardano's founder launches RATS pool for ADA staking

Charles Hoskinson Launches RATS pool; An ADA Staking Pool

The founder of Cardano and the CEO of Input Output HK software development company, Charles Hoskinson announced on Friday that he has launched an ADA staking pool. Dubbed RATS Pool, the new ADA staking pool references the “King of the Rats” title given to Hoskinson by Adam Black,  the CEO of Blockstream, an open-source and commercial Bitcoin technologies provider.

RATS Pool for Kings

At press time, the RATS pool runs on four Cardano (ADA) epochs. The Cardano PoolTool explorer shows that the new ADA staking pool is being run by the founder of Cardano and Samuel Leathers, a DevOps Engineer at Input Output (IOHK). While announcing the RATS pool on Twitter, Hoskinson informed that the pool is open for everyone to delegate their ADA cryptocurrency.

So far, there are about 4.2 million ADA in RATS Pool live stake. There is no active stake in the pool. Overall, 22.98 billion ADA coins have been staked on the Cardano blockchain. This represents about 72.06 percent of the crypto’s circulating supply (over 31 billion ADA in circulation). As per the Cardano PoolTool, there are 1,827 active pools staking on the network.

This is coming a few days after the IOHK team announced that a major protocol change, Mary Upgrade, will go live on the Cardano mainnet by March 1.

Cardano Price Update

Cardano topped another yearly high today at $1.29. Although the price has slightly dropped to $1.22 on Coinmarketcap, the cryptocurrency is currently the third-largest in the market. Cardano has a market capitalization of $37.9 billion, which flips the $35.9 billion market cap of Binance Coin (BNB).
